about

This was my second solo album. It was originally released in 2001, and at that time I was going by the name "the Sonic Screwdriver." I had just gotten my first drum set, so I played the drums on some of the songs the best I could at the time. They are pretty sloppy, but I find them charming now. Some drums were programmed or electric, as well. With this album, I was purposefully trying to experiment with new sounds and ways of recording, which is why I chose the name "the Sonic Screwdriver." The album is all over the place, stylistically. I wasn't worried about it having a cohesive feel. I just wanted to try new things and expand my musical palette. Throw on some headphones, and dive into the craziness.
The original inner sleeve album art had a sketch, by James Engelmann, of me drilling into my head with a power drill. Below the sketch, it said "Enter Paranoia." Another chapter in my journey of musical self-discovery.
As always, thanks so much for listening!
